English Nuttalls, Marilyns, Wainwrights  and Hewitts

This is my English peak bagging list. My aim is to hike or climb all of the English Nuttalls (256), Marilyns (175), Wainwrights (214) and Hewitts (181).

Note: All reference to total summit numbers are made in reference to lists provided on the Peakbagger website.

If you click on a date under 'ascent date' (right hand column) for a peak and then on the new page scroll down to the bottom right you will be be able to download my gpx file for that particular peak. Invariably the Peakbagger entry will also contain a detailed route account/description of the ascent and an interactive map overview of the route. If you click on 'Peak' (left hand column) and scroll down to the bottom left you will have a choice of a variety of gpx files from all Peakbagger contributors for that peak. To return to the home page simply refresh your screen.

English Nuttalls

Nuttalls are hills over 2,000ft (609.6m) high in England and Wales with a relative drop of 15m*. There are 445 Nuttalls, in England and Wales with 257 Nuttalls in England and 189 in Wales. The 256** Nuttalls in England are split into: The Lake District, Howgill Fells, North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales, The Peak District and The Cheviots.

*Whilst Hewitts on the other hand are hills over 2,000' with a relative drop of 30m.

**There are various lists of English Nuttalls that give a total of between 255-257. As I am recording on the Peakbagger website I will use their total of 256.

English Marilyns

Marilyns are defined as peaks with a prominence of 150 metres (490ft) or more, regardless of height or any other merit. Thus, Marilyns can range from being mountains with a height above 600 m (2,000 ft), to being relatively small hills.

As of April 2020, there were 2,011 Marilyns in the British Isles, with 1,219 Marilyns in Scotland, 454 Marilyns in Ireland, 175 in England, 158 in Wales, and 5 in the Isle of Man.

English Hewitts

Hewitts are defined as "Hills in England, Wales and Ireland over two thousand" feet 2,000 feet (609.6 m) in height, the general requirement to be called a mountain in the British Isles, and with a prominence above 30* metres (98.4 ft). There are 528 Hewitts, 209 in Ireland, 181 in England and 138 in Wales. 

*Whilst Nuttalls on the other hand have a relative height of 15m.

**There are various lists of English Hewitts that give a total of 180. As I am recording on the Peakbagger website I will use their total of 181.
