NW Trip.1.Day.4. Anelog (Marilyn, Lleyn Peninsula).

Updated: Oct 3, 2020

2.8.2020 - Mynydd Anelog 191m, Aberdaron, Lleyn Peninsula (Marilyn).

A simple little loop of the Aberdaron headland really. Parked at Mynydd Mawr campsite with my van (£25 pn) and headed SW from the site towards the sea and then turned left.

Basically you follow the coast path round all the way to Aberdaron. From there I headed NW on an UC road to the base of Anelog itself and turned left. It’s simple footpath stuff to the top where there are stunning views of the entire Lleyn peninsula and beyond. It was also a beautiful day too!

I came down off the back end of Anelog among some beautiful but easy tufty heather to join the coastal path. Once there I followed it all the way to Mynydd Mawr where there are more great views. From there I simply walked down the concrete road back to the campsite.

Parking: I stayed at the camp site but you can park in Aberdaron or even at the top of Mynydd Mawr/base of the concrete road. There is parking at both locations.

Route Summary: In the main easy coastal foothpath or road. Superb coastal views.

Route statistics: 14.3kms with 615m of height gain done in 4hrs 20mins.

Route overview using ViewRanger.

Glorious campsite setting.

The first half of the walk from the campsite around the headland to Aberdaron.

The second half of the walk from Aberdaron to Mynydd Anelog and then onto Mynydd Mawr. There is also a picture there of the car park at the top of Mynydd Mawr. The road is steep and narrow but with passing places.
