Black Mountain near Hay On Wye, Bugger...another Welsh weather day! (Brecon Beacons)

Updated: Oct 3, 2020

21.12.2017 - Black Mountain 703m and Black Mountain South Top 637m.

A typical Welsh drizzle low cloud weather day on the Olchon Horseshoe on the eastern most ridgeline of the Black Mountains near Longtown right on the Wales/England border to take in the last two Nuttalls of this range. This would normally be a stunning teardrop high ridgeline route but the low cloud today (400m) meant I saw very little all day. A good workout though but otherwise just photos of trig points.

Parking and Access: There is a car park at the start point of the gpx route for about 6-7 vehicles.

Route Summary: Two remaining Nuttalls: Black Mtn 703m, Black Mtn South Top 637m. 16km, 430m of ascent in 4hrs 30mins.

GPX files: For gpx files go to the Peakbagger website by following this link and go to the bottom right hand of the page and click ‘Download this GPS track as a GPX file.’
