Peak & Lake District Sojourn. Day 3.

Mellor Moor 327m, New Mills, Peak District (County HP).

A walk from the front door of my holiday cottage in Furness Vale along the beautiful Peak Forest Canal to the town of New Mills to go up to the trig pointed top of Mellor Moor which at 327m is the County/Unitary High Point for Lancashire, Cheshire & the Southern Pennines. Quite a pleasant little hill and nice not to have to use the van! A very easy low level route with no navigational or access difficulties.

Parking: None because of a holiday stay location.

Route: Lovely canal walk, wide country tracks and tarmac roads.

Route Statistics: A 13km, 312m height gain day done in three hours.
