Dent 352m, Egremont, Cumbria (Marilyn).
Summary
A rainy day so as I was staying in Egremont for my Lake District hiking trip I decided to walk from the town to nearby Dent to knock off a Marilyn. I wanted to do it quickly so basically I had a long road walk to it and went up via Black How farm through the forest. You soon come out on the fell where you come to Dent’s West Top first. Oddly this lower 346m West Top not only has a bigger cairn than Dent itself but it has two of them. Dent proper is not far away. There would be nice views on a sunny day over towards the Ennerdale range but not today but still okay and worth the walk. After this you drop off the top, down through the forest back to the road for the long walk back to Egremont.
Parking: You can walk from Egremont or any of the nearby villages and make it a shorter walk.
Route: Back road, forest tracks and paths and footpath on the fell. No problems wish access or trails.
Route Statistics: 13km, 400m height gain in 2hr 55min
